Our visit with the tiger cubs!

We were down in Gulf Shores, Alabama taking a little vacation and decided to go to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. This zoo was featured on an Animal Planet series back in 2006 - The Little Zoo That Could - about its comeback after Hurricane Ivan. As we're getting ready to leave, the keepers bring out four tiger cubs and start playing with them. We stopped to look at them and find out that the zoo was doing "Cub Encounters". We headed straight to the office to find out the next available time. We could have the next time slot, just 30 minutes away! We were so excited. The only requirement was that you had to wear socks - hello, who wears socks at the beach?
So, we ran down the street to Walgreens and bought two pair.
We came right back and our "encounter" started . . . it was great! We spent 30 minutes in the 4x8 enclosure ALONE with the cubs. They were so cute! We really consider ourselves lucky to be able to do this - the encounters stop when the cubs reach 40 pounds. That won't be very long! Omar, Trisha and Cyn-Cyn are 10 weeks old. Dharma is 12 weeks old. They are Bengal tigers born at the Marcan Tiger Preserve in Florida.
